Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Auburn, CA
Q: What made you realize that music was your path?
A: When I was 5 years old, I heard BB King’s The Thrill is Gone, something happened to me. It’s oxymoronic, but as he sang that song, I got extremely excited! After that, I knew music was a path I needed to pursue.
Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A: I am a confessional songwriter for the most part. It is an innate quality of mine to want to connect with people at that vulnerable level. Stylistically, I love roots music- blues and folk. So, coincidentally, I write music that involves those styles.
Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?
A: Lots! To name a few… Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, The Band, James Taylor, Joe Cocker, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Big Bill Broonzy, Muddy Waters, God, friends, family, life….
Q: What makes your music unique?
A: My blending of genres, my voice and guitar work… I’ve worked really hard at being equally skillful at singing, songwriting, and guitar playing.
Q: Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of?
A: When my daughter was born… Honestly, she helped me see that if I couldn’t play music ever again, I would be all right, and that was very liberating. She is my music!
Q: What’s next for you?
A: The world!
